Ms. Jahrling shares her experience living in Noisy-Le-Grand, and her feelings of anger when faced with exclusion and seeing those close to her “pushed aside, outside society.”
Alongside ATD Fourth World, Ms. Jahrling has journeyed from the shame of poverty to the pride of being part of a people finally recognized – the “People of the Fourth World” – with an identity, a history, and a daily struggle against poverty and exclusion. Today, Marie Jahrling is a member of the International Center for Joseph Wresinski ethics committee, and her presentation discusses the sense and meaning of their work.
