Hij schreef vanuit het daklozenkamp in Noisy-le-Grand waar hij woonde en werkte. Wresinski vertelt het verhaal van gezinnen in grote armoede, gezien door de ogen van kinderen . Dit resulteert in een ontwapenende en ontroerende kijk op armoede.<\/p>\n<p>In zijn voorwoord schrijft hij:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8216;Het duurt lang voor je ogen en oren helemaal openstaan om te kunnen zien wat ongelooflijk en onverdraaglijk lijkt. Zou ik wel de juiste toon gevonden hebben?
