Hierin toetst hij\u00a0het gedachtengoed van Wresinski aan de omgang met mensen in armoede in de VS en de gevolgen hiervan voor een betere armoedebestrijding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citaten uit het voorwoord:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Zonder twijfel is een van de grootste verwezenlijkingen van Joseph Wresinski dat hij zichtbaar heeft gemaakt hoe problematisch het leven van mensen in extreme armoede, de zgn. Vierde Wereld, is, maar tegelijk ook hun volledige menselijke waardigheid heeft erkend.\u00b4(&#8230;)<br \/>\n<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Wresinski gaat tewerk als een beeldenstormer, die ons beeld van de armen als \u2018ver van ons bed\u2019 onderuit haalt. Hij stelt dat zo lang we de armen als \u2018ver weg\u2019 zien\u2013 zij het als gevolg van tekort of structurele onderdrukking door anderen \u2013 we nooit echt kunnen omgaan met mensen in extreme armoede, de Vierde Wereld.\u00b4(&#8230;)<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Voor Wresinski is armoede een falen van de gemeenschap. De armen hebben gewoon de pech dat zij (tragisch genoeg) het meest rechtstreeks het gelag van dit falen betalen.
