De speelfilm \u2019Joseph, de rebel – van wanhoop tot verzet\u2019\u00a0 vertelt de periode uit het leven van Joseph Wresinski, in een sloppenwijk van Noisy-le-Grand, net buiten Parijs. Het is eind jaren vijftig, begin jaren zestig. Het aangrijpende van de film is dat hij laat zien wat de personages drijft. We zien hun onderlinge tegenstellingen, hun gevoelens, hun hoop en hun lijden onder erbarmelijke omstandigheden.<\/p>\n

\u2019Die verdomde pastoor\u2019<\/strong>
\nDe realisatie was in handen van Caroline Glorion, een journaliste, filmmaakster en schrijfster, die al voor het overlijden van Joseph Wresinski met hem en zijn medewerkers projecten opzette. Glorion werkt voor de Franse televisie en snijdt in haar talloze reportages vooral onderwerpen aan rond mensenrechten.<\/p>\n

Meer dan honderd personages doen mee in deze film, die zich voor een groot deel afspeelt in een realistisch nagebouwd decor van de krottenwijk in Noisy. We zien er P\u00e8re Joseph, gespeeld door de bekende acteur Jacques Weber, in zijn strijd met de autoriteiten, maar ook met de gezinnen, die hem in eerste instantie als een bedreiging zien. \u201cDie verdomde pastoor maakt het nog erger, straks staat de politie hier. (\u2026) Als hij ons blijft opruien zal er controle komen.\u201d<\/em> Maar Joseph weet de meeste bewoners van het kamp en later ook veel mensen daarbuiten te overtuigen. Jongeren uit verschillende landen komen hem helpen, en ook onder anderen Genevi\u00e8ve De Gaulle-Anthonioz, een nicht van Generaal De Gaulle, die een medestander zal blijven.<\/p>\n

Ongebruikelijke samenwerking
\n<\/strong>De film ontleent zijn kracht ook aan de ongebruikelijke samenwerking tussen professionele acteurs en gelegenheidsspelers,\u00a0 die zelf armoede hebben meegemaakt. Dit maakt de film nog realistischer, omdat de inbreng van deze mensen werd gebruikt om de dialogen en sc\u00e8nes te versterken. Het was, vertelt Glorion, een bijzondere wisselwerking: \u201cMannen en vrouwen spraken over hun ervaring van vroeger en alledag in termen van uitsluiting en armoede, en de acteurs en technici deelden hun ervaringen van het spel, het acteren en het schieten van beelden, de plankenkoorts en hun eigen leven. <\/em>Allen voelden zich verantwoordelijk om de strijd van Joseph Wresinski en de gezinnen in Noisy-le-Grand zo goed mogelijk te verbeelden.\u201d
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

Gevecht voor waardigheid
\n<\/strong>Bij het zien van deze film over vervlogen jaren, krijg je de drang om erin te springen en mee te doen aan dit politieke gevecht voor de erkenning en de waardigheid van deze mensen.\u00a0Joseph Wresinski zegt tegen de jonge Jacques, een van de hoofdpersonen: \u201cIk wist dat we iets gewonnen hadden. (\u2026) Waardigheid, oude makker. De trots dat we samen geknokt hebben.\u201d<\/em> Diezelfde Jacques, enkele tientallen jaren ouder geworden, zegt nu: \u201cHet was indrukwekkend. Maar wij zetten de strijd voort en we laten onze stem horen, <\/em>\"\"want het is nog niet voorbij. Armoede blijft verwoestend.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
