Zijn vader kwam uit Polen, zijn moeder uit Spanje.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1930<\/strong> : Op dertienjarige leeftijd wordt hij bakkersleerling. Enkele jaren later leert hij de jeugdbeweging KAJ kennen en besluit hij om priester te worden.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1956<\/strong> : Na een inzet van tien jaar als priester-arbeider en als pastoor op het platteland, vraagt de bisschop aan Joseph Wresinski om naar het daklozenkamp aan de rand van Parijs te gaan. 252 gezinnen overleven er\u00a0in de modder\u00a0en in de kou.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1957<\/strong> : Met de gezinnen van het kamp richt Wresinksi de vereniging ATD op. Hij bouwt een bibliotheek, een kleuterschool, een werkplaats, een wasserette en een kapel. Dat vervangt de uitdeling van voedsel en kleding. Hij wil de oorzaken van armoede aanpakken. In een eerste onderzoeksinstituut brengt hij wetenschappers uit de hele wereld bijeen.<em> \u201eWant armoede is een zaak van het hart \u00e9n van het verstand. &#8220;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Vanaf 1960: <\/strong>Jongeren uit meerdere landen en met uiteenlopende geloofsovertuigingen sluiten zich bij hem aan. Hij richt het internationaal volontariaat op.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1979: <\/strong>Wresinski wordt lid van de Sociaal-Economische Raad van Frankrijk. Een belangrijk stap in de vertegenwoordiging van mensen in grote armoede. In 1987 neemt de Raad het Wresinski-rapport \u00b4Grote armoede en sociaal-economische onzekerheid` aan. Dit programma inspireert politieke leiders in binnen- en buitenland, en erkent de armsten als partners in de bestrijding van armoede.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1987: <\/strong>Op 17 oktober komen 100.000 mensen samen op het Plein van de Mensenrechten in Parijs. Wresinski huldigt er de eerste gedenksteen in ter ere van slachtoffers van extreme armoede wereldwijd. Zijn graf bevindt zich in het internationaal Centrum van ATD Vierde Wereld in M\u00e9ry-sur-Oise (F). Zijn naam blijft verbonden met de bevrijding van gezinnen in grote armoede.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vandaag<\/strong>: Dertig jaar na het overlijden van Joseph Wresinki brengt ATD Vierde Wereld nog altijd mensen samen, met de boodschap: <em>\u201eArmoede is geen noodlot.
