Christian hope does not presuppose that people never fall apart, that they don’t refuse to keep going, or even that they don’t swear when stung by an insult, but that they refuse to stay down.
Like Christ, they somehow get up in spite of everything to begin again, to begin again regardless. They do so not only to achieve their goals and meet their responsibilities in life, but because they know this person who has hope, that their anguish, their suffering, their misfortune is not a life-sentence, that beyond death there will be a complete transformation of the situation and that they will take up their full place as a child of God.
All that they have experienced in their earthly life will become part of a special relationship with God.
