In doing so, we essentially fail to acknowledge the courage of these very families striving to live with dignity, their ingenuity in facing continual challenges, the pain these men and women inflict on themselves in poorly-paid, arduous, dangerous work that is often undeclared.
Let’s listen to the lessons these families in extreme poverty teach us about courage, endurance, and dignity.
Failing this, we would miss out on so much, and these unsettling times would have taught us nothing.
